PATHOLOGY ADVISORY COMMITTEE MARCH 12, 2009 PUBLIC MINUTES ROLL CALL PRESENT Anne Eckert, Nancy Schneider, Hilda Pressman, Granville Brady, Kathlyn Conlon-Pignio and Gerard Caracciolo. ABSENT Anne M. Mazzu and Louis Conte ALSO PRESENT Renee P. Clark, Executive Director Sonia Claudino, Administrative Staff Carmen Rodriguez, DAG CALL TO ORDER The regular bimonthly meeting of the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Advisory Committee was called to order at 124 Halsey Street at 10:00 a.m., all members having been notified of the time, date and place, and materials pertinent hereto having been provided. SUNSHINE LAW In compliance with Chapter 231 the Public Law of 1975, notice of this meeting was given to the Trenton Times, the Star Ledger, the Courier-Post and the Record. I APPROVAL OF MINUTES a. September 11, 2008 On a motion made by Gerard Caracciolo, seconded by Hilda Pressman, the Committee voted to approve the minutes as amended. The motion carried by unanimous vote. b. January 15, 2009 On a motion made by Nancy Schneider, seconded by Gerard Caracciolo, the Committee voted to approve the minutes as amended. The motion carried by unanimous vote. II QUESTION FROM DEPUTY DIRECTOR The Committee believes that the number of hours necessary to fulfill the mandate of CE hours is appropriate. Chair directed Executive Director, Renee Clark to notify the Deputy Director of the Committee’s answer. III NEW BUSINESS a. The Committee discussed the current ASHA certification standards. Chair directed, that all Committee members individually read the ASHA standards and at the next scheduled Committee meeting develop a plan of action. Therefore, this matter is tabled until the next scheduled Committee meeting. IV CORRESPONDENCE a. The Committee reviewed correspondence regarding Audiology online continuing education. A motion was made by Nancy Schneider, to consider Audiology online "live" continuing education as a live conference. Motion was seconded by Hilda Pressman to approve course. The Motion carried by unanimous vote. V REGULATORY REVIEW a. A motion was made by Nancy Schneider, seconded by Kathlyn Conlon-Pignio to oppose Assembly, No. 3765, as it would possibly be an impediment to consumers. The Motion carried. VI FYI a. The Committee reviewed the April 1-4, 2009 American Academy of Audiology Annual Convention agenda and considered it informational. Nancy Schneider made a motion to proceed to Executive Session, seconded by Gerard Caracciolo, to consider and review, applications, consumer complaints and other information received pursuant to the Committee’s investigative authority in order to determine whether violations of law, including Committee regulations, have occurred. The results of these deliberations will be made known when, and if, the Committee determines to initiate disciplinary or other enforcement actions. If the Committee chooses to issue a Uniform Penalty Letter, the action will be taken in Public Session immediately after the Executive Session.
