Minutes February 11, 2009 A meeting of the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners was held on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the Richard J. Hughes Justice Complex, 25 Market Street, 4th Floor Conference Center, Trenton, New Jersey. The meeting was called to order by President Paul C. Mendelowitz, M.D. PRESENT Board Members Ciechanowski, Criscito, Criss, DeGregorio, Haddad, Lambert, Lomazow, Mendelowitz, Nussbaum, Paul, and Walsh. EXCUSED Board Members Cheema, Jordan, Salas-Lopez, Scott, Stanley, Strand, Weiss and Wheeler. ALSO PRESENT Deputy Attorneys General Dick, Ehrenkrantz, Flanzman, Gelber, Levine, Puteska, and Warhaftig; Executive Director Roeder and Mary Lou Mottola, Executive Director of the Medical Practitioner Review Panel.
STATEMENT CONCERNING THE The requirements of the "Open Public Meetings Act" have been satisfied by notice of this meeting given in the annual notice adopted by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners on September 10, 2008 which was transmitted to the ATLANTIC CITY PRESS, STAR LEDGER, CAMDEN COURIER POST, ASBURY PARK PRESS, BERGEN RECORD and the TRENTON TIMES, all on the 1st day of October 2008. ANNOUNCEMENTS As the Board members were aware, Dr. Trent Pierce, the chairman of the Arkansas State Medical Board, was critically injured February 3rd when a homemade bomb planted in his car exploded. The Board wishes to extend its best wishes to Dr. Pierce for a speedy and full recovery. Additionally, the Board directed that a note be sent to the family informing them that the Board’s thoughts and well wishes are with them during this difficult time. MINUTES THE BOARD, UPON MOTION MADE AND SECONDED, VOTED TO APPROVE THE NOVEMBER 21, 2008 OPEN PHYSICIANS ASSISTANT ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES. MINUTES THE BOARD, UPON MOTION MADE AND SECONDED, VOTED TO APPROVE THE NOVEMBER 3, 2008 OPEN ELECTROLOGIST ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES. Mr. Walsh entered the room. NEW BUSINESS 1. SENATE BILL NO. 2201 Seeks to create certain radiologic technologists’ licenses. It was introduced by Senator Fred H.. Madden, Jr. on or about October 6, 2008 and was referred to the Senate Commerce Committee. THE BOARD, UPON MOTION MADE AND SECONDED, VOTED TO TAKE NO POSITION ON THE PROPOSED LEGISLATION. OLD BUSINESS Nothing Scheduled. INFORMATIONAL Nothing. PUBLIC COMMENT None.
