STATE BOARD OF COURT REPORTING A regular meeting of the State Board of Court Reporting was held at 124 Halsey Street, Newark, N.J. on the sixth floor, on Monday, March 17, 2008. The meeting was convened in accordance with the schedule filed with the Secretary of State and was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Open Public Meeting Act. Chapter 321, P.L. Notice of the meeting was prepared in the office of the Board and mailed out to the Secretary of State., the Attorney General, the Star Ledger, the Record, the Press of Atlantic City, the Asbury Park Press and the Trenton Times. The meeting was called to order at 9:45 A.M. A roll call was taken and the following attendance of Board members was recorded for these minutes:
Marianne Cammarota Present via telephone Also in attendance were: Dianne L. Tamaroglio, Executive Director, State Board of Court Reporting; Ellen Green, Service Support Clerk to the Board and Deputy Attorney General Olga Bradford. The Board members present, together with Board President Marianne Cammarota, who attended the meeting via the telephone due to illness, voted unanimously on the following matters. These matters were handled in this fashion due to the pressing nature of certain matters as well as the fact that the Board would not meet again until May 12, 2008. The determinations of the Board in the following matters will be placed on the Board's next available agenda for additional ratification. I. APPROVAL OF PUBLIC SESSION MEETING MINUTES OF JANUARY 14, 2008 A motion was made by Jean Dolan and seconded by Susan Scardilli to approve the Public Session Minutes of January 14, 2008 as presented. A vote was taken and the motion was approved unanimously. II. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR REMARKS No remarks were made by Executive Director Dianne L. Tamaroglio at today’s meeting. III. BOARD PRESIDENT REMARKS No remarks were made by Board Chairman Marianne Cammarota at today’s meeting. IV. OLD BUSINESS
A. Correspondence from John F. Trainor, Inc., Global Court Reporting Services, Inc., William C. O’Brien Associates, Inc., and Jersey Shore Reporting, LLC The Board reviewed the correspondence from John F. Trainor, Inc., Global Court Reporting Services, Inc., William C. O’Brien Associates, Inc., and Jersey Shore Reporting, LLC regarding the use of non-certified reporters. The Board will re-visit this matter when the new regulations are approved. In the event that the new regulations are not approved by September 2008 this matter will be discussed at the September 15, 2008 Board meeting.
B. Correspondence from Heywood Waga, CSR, CRR The Board reviewed the Certificate of Completion requested by the Board for the two seminars being presented by Heywood Waga. This was considered informational for the Board deeming no discussion or decision-making. V. NEW BUSINESS A. Requesting Continuing Education Approval
1. Certified Court Reporters Association of New Jersey Board Chairman Marianne Cammarota, Executive Director Dianne Tamaroglio, Secretary/Treasurer Susan Scardilli, and Board Member Jean Dolan, previously approved certain Continuing Education courses and credits offered at the Certified Court Reporter Association’s Annual Spring Convention which will be held on March 28-29, 2008. A motion was made by Jean Dolan and seconded by Susan Scardilli to ratify the approval of the CCRA-NJ Annual Spring Convention courses. A vote was taken and the motion was approved by a unanimous vote. The approved courses and corresponding credits are as follows:

2. Marianne A. Cammarota, CCR, CRR, RDR, FAPR Executive Director Dianne Tamaroglio, previously approved the Continuing Education Seminars being presented by Marianne Cammarota, CCR, CRR, RDR FAPR on various Saturdays throughout the year. A motion was made by Jean Dolan and seconded by Susan Scardilli to ratify the approval of the P & C Seminars. A vote was taken and the motion was approved by a unanimous vote. 3. Jeff Justice Board Chairman Marianne Cammarota and Executive Director Dianne Tamaroglio previously approved the Continuing Education courses and credits presented by Jeff Justice and Sue McDuffie which will be held on May 17, 2008. A motion was made by Jean Dolan and seconded by Susan Scardilli to ratify the approval of the Jeff Justice Seminars. A vote was taken and the motion was approved by a unanimous vote. The approved courses and corresponding credits are as follows:

4. National Court Reporters Association Board Chairman Marianne Cammarota, Executive Director Dianne Tamaroglio and Secretary/Treasurer Susan Scardilli, previously approved certain Continuing Education courses and credits offered at the National Court Reporters Association’s Firm Owners Executive Conference which was be held on February 3-5, 2008. A motion was made by Jean Dolan and seconded by Susan Scardilli to ratify the approval of the NCRA’S Firm Owners Executive Conference. A vote was taken and the motion was approved by a unanimous vote. The approved courses and corresponding credits are as follows:

The School of Court Reporting Board Chairman Marianne Cammarota and Executive Director Dianne Tamaroglio previously approved the Continuing Education courses and credits sent in by The School of Court Reporting for the Realtime and Speedbuilding Seminar. A motion was made by Jean Dolan and seconded by Susan Scardilli to ratify the approval of the Realtime and Speedbuilding Seminar. A vote was taken and the motion was approved by a unanimous vote. 6. Francis Todd Allievi The Board reviewed the seminar material sent in by F. Todd Allievi, Certified Court Reporter, for the Court Reporting Seminar. Upon review, a motion was made by Jean Dolan and seconded by Susan Scardilli to approve the Court Reporting Seminar. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously. The approved courses and corresponding credits are as follows:

7. Lisa DiCioccio, CCR 30XI00113500 Board Chairman Marianne Cammarota and Executive Director Dianne Tamaroglio previously approved the Keeping Up With Eclipse Webinar sent in by Lisa DiCioccio. A motion was made by Jean Dolan and seconded by Susan Scardilli to ratify the approval of the Keeping Up With Eclipse Webinar. A vote was taken and the motion was approved by a unanimous vote. 8. Stenograph, LLC The Board reviewed the workshop material sent in by Stenograph, LLC for the Case CATalyst Version 9 Workshops. Upon review, a motion was made by Jean Dolan and seconded by Susan Scardilli to approve the Case CATalyst Version 9 Workshops. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously. The approved courses and corresponding credits are as follows:

9. Lisa Dove, CCR 30XI00231400 The Board reviewed the correspondence sent in by Lisa Dove for obtaining Continuing Education Credit by creating transcripts for the Veterans History Project. After careful consideration, the Board would like to express their admiration toward Ms. Dove for being involved in preserving our Nation’s history but unfortunately it is determined that this does not meet the requirements of the continuing education regulation, specifically, N.J.A.C. 13:43-7.3. The Board, however, will be taking into consideration this type of service to be included in future Continuing Education regulations.
10. Christi Argenbright, CCR 30XI00178900 The Board reviewed the information sent in by Christi Argenbright for an on-line notary public education course to be considered for Continuing Education credit. Upon review the Board is requesting further information from Ms. Argenbright regarding the course description. The Board will also inform Ms. Argenbright of regulation N.J.A.C.13:43-7.4(a)6, which states: "Correspondence, televised, videotaped, teleconference and internet courses: one credit per course with a maximum of five credits per biennial certification period". 11. NCRA Midyear Conference The Board reviewed the course materials for the National Court Reporters Association’s Midyear Conference. Upon review, a motion was made by Jean Dolan and seconded by Susan Scardilli to approve certain Continuing Education courses and credits offered at the NCRA’S Midyear Conference A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously. The approved courses and corresponding credits are as follows:

Upon review, a motion was made by Jean Dolan and seconded by Susan Scardilli to approve the Summer Breakout Seminar for Continuing Education credit. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously. The approved courses and corresponding credits are as follows:

A motion was made by Jean Dolan and seconded by Susan Scardilli to adjourn Public Session at 11:20 P.M. and move into Executive Session at 12:35 P.M. A vote was taken and the motion was passed by a unanimous vote. The Board moved into Executive Session to discuss confidential matters.
