PUBLIC SESSION MINUTES

A. CALL TO ORDER

This scheduled meeting of the Electrologist Advisory Committee was called to order at 10:12 a.m. in the Warren Conference Room, 6th floor, 124 Halsey Street, Newark, New Jersey.

B. ROLL CALL

The following Committee Members were present for this meeting:

Committee Member Bonita Johnson
Committee Member Sandra Jackson
Committee Member Karen Moskowitz

The following Committee Member was absent:

Committee Member David J. Goldberg, MD

Staff present: Executive Director Leslie G. Aronson Deputy Attorney General Tobey Palan Keisha Clair, Secretarial Assistant

Public present: None

A quorum was present for the meeting.

In accordance with Chapter 231 of P.L. 1975, more commonly referred to as the Sunshine Law, adequate notice of this meeting was provided by mailing to the Office of the Secretary of State, The Star Ledger, The Trenton Times, The Bergen Record and The Courier Post.

C. APPROVAL OF PUBLIC MINUTES

On a motion of Ms. Moskowitz and seconded by Ms. Johnson, by unanimous vote of the Committee, the June 10, 2008 Public Session Minutes were approved. All in favor.

D. PUBLIC COMMENT

None

E. ADMINISTRATIVE

Executive Director Aronson updated the Committee on the processing of the premises renewal applications.

F. CORRESPONDENCE

1. Letters from licensed electrologist Joan McGowan

On a motion by Ms. Moskowitz and seconded by Ms. Jackson the Committee voted to send Ms. McGowan a letter of response to each of the questions/issues she raised.

2. Letter from Marie Barry, Director Office of Career and Technical Education, Department of Education

On a motion by Ms. Moskowitz, and seconded by Ms. Johnson the Committee voted to send Ms. Barry a letter stating we do not oversee electrology programs or have any authority over the creation of electrology programs either in the State of New Jersey or outside the State of New Jersey.

3. Letter from Jeannie Bush, Director, Council on Education for the AEA

On a motion by Ms. Johnson, and seconded by Ms. Jackson the Committee determined to sen Ms. Bush a letter stating that the Committee is working to remove the word accreditation from the regulations.

G. NEXT MEETING

The Committee will invite Regulatory Analyst Maryann Sheenan to the meeting to address issues regarding regulation changes.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Electrologist Advisory Committee is scheduled for November 3, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Warren Conference Room, 6th floor, 124 Halsey Street, Newark, New Jersey.

H. ADJOURNMENT

This meeting of the Board was adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
