Agrees to Temporary License Suspension
NEWARK - A psychologist who allegedly referred patients for treatment by an unlicensed
colleague has agreed to the temporary suspension of her license.
Sally A. Wright of Neshanic Station, who operates a private practice under the
name “Wellspring Resources Unlimited,” referred patients to another person in her practice who is not a licensed psychologist. Wright called her colleague, Larry Brotzen, a “doctor” when referring patients to him, according to the state's Administrative Complaint.
Wright allegedly billed insurance carriers for psychological services rendered by the unlicensed Brotzen and also engaged in other forms of fraudulent billing. In addition, she failed to comply with the licensing board's investigative demands.
“Patient trust cannot be compromised or violated. Patients expect honesty from the health care professionals who treat them, and our licensing boards will hold violators accountable for their actions,” Attorney General Anne Milgram said.
Wright's license is suspended until further action by the Board of Psychological Examiners. A hearing before an Administrative Law Judge on the alleged violations committed by Wright will be scheduled.
“The Board was prepared to hold a hearing to consider license suspension if Wright had not agreed to the temporary suspension. Her actions needlessly put patients at risk,” said David Szuchman, Consumer Affairs Director.
Deputy Attorney General Joan D. Gelber is representing the state in this matter.
