Alert
Effective October 1, 2025, pursuant to the requirements of P.L 2025, c.39 (specifically N.J.S.A. 56:8-110.3), retail mercantile establishments must conspicuously display this notice regarding gift card scams. In recognition of the additional time it takes to design, produce, circulate, replace, and restock gift cards with the requisite anti-fraud warning notice and in a form that meets the new enhanced, secure anti-fraud requirements of N.J.S.A. 56:8-110.3(c) and so as not to unduly disrupt New Jersey consumers and retailers during the upcoming holiday shopping and gift-giving season, and with the further understanding that the gift card manufacturing and retail sales industry will continue their good faith efforts to come into full compliance with all the requirements of the new law, the Division has agreed to forbear enforcement of N.J.S.A. 56:8-110.3(c) until February 1, 2026.
