The Perfusionists Advisory Committee, which falls under the supervision of the State Board of Medical Examiners, licenses perfusionists in the State of New Jersey.
What is a perfusionist?
A perfusionist, who is qualified by academic and clinical education, is a skilled person who operates extracorporeal circulation equipment when it becomes necessary to support or replace a patient's cardiopulmonary or circulatory functions during surgery.
Please be advised that currently licensed Perfusionists applying for biennial license renewal must complete 30 continuing education credits by November 1, 2015. If you fail to do so, you may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including suspension of your license.
Licensees within their initial biennial period of licensure are exempt from this requirement.
