Pursuant to Section 9 of the Physical Therapy Compact, the Commission is required to post this Notice at least thirty (30) days in advance of the meeting at which the Rules will be considered and voted upon by the Commission. The Board of Physical Therapy Examiners licenses and regulates the field of physical therapy. The board licenses physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.
The purpose of the Board is to:
- protect the health, safety and welfare of the people of New Jersey;
- investigating and prosecuting physical therapists and physical therapist assistants who have broken the state’s consumer protection laws; and
- ensure that physical therapy is performed in compliance with State law.
The Board protects the public by:
- ensuring that physical therapist and physical therapist assistants meet all educational requirements for licensure;
- investigating and prosecuting physical therapists and physical therapist assistants who have broken the state’s consumer protection laws; and
- requiring all physical therapists and physical therapist assistants to be licensed by the state and to renew their licenses every two years.
