Annual Investment Adviser Exam

Introduction The Bureau of Securities (“Bureau”) within the Division of Consumer Affairs, under the Attorney General of the State of New Jersey, is charged with regulating the securities industry in New Jersey, and protecting investors from investment fraud. Each year, in addition to on-site examinations of registered investment advisers, the Bureau conducts a written examination, which New Jersey registered investment adviser firms are required to complete and submit to the Bureau.

All questions on the written examination must be answered truthfully and to the best of your ability. A false or misleading statement may be deemed a violation of N.J.S.A. 49:3-54, which states "it is unlawful for any person to make or cause to be made, in any document filed with the bureau or in any proceeding, investigation or examination conducted under this act, any statement which is, at the time and in the light of the circumstances under which it is made, false or misleading in any material respect."

Examinations must be completed no later than July 10, 2020.
