Alert:   PE Civil Exam
NCEES is seeking licensed civil engineers to participate in an online survey as part of the professional activities and knowledge study for the PE Civil Exam. This survey will be used to update the specifications for the exam.

Alert:   NCEES Seeks Agricultural and Biological Engineers’ Professional Expertise and Advice
NCEES is currently seeking licensed agricultural and biological engineers to participate in a professional activities and knowledge study, or PAKS, for the PE Agricultural and Biological Engineering exam. The results of this online survey will be used to update specifications for the exam, which is used throughout the United States for licensing purposes.

Alert:   2020 Licensing Renewal Information 
  • Renewal applications will be mailed in mid-February, 2020. Renewal applications are not available on the website.  Renewal Fee is $80.00
  • New licenses will become effective April 1, 2020 and are active for two (2) years
  • May 1, 2020 - May 31,2020 – Renewal Grace Period
    $80.00 Renewal Fee + $50.00 Late Fee = Total of $130.00
  • June 1, 2020 - License Reinstatements Begin
    $80.00 Renewal Fee + $125.00 Reinstatement Fee = Total of $205.00 

Alert:   Land Surveyor’s State Specific Exam
On May 10, 2019 Governor Phil Murphy signed into law a requirement that Land Surveyor applicants take a New Jersey State Specific Exam as part of the application process. That law will become effective six months after it was signed or beginning November 11, 2019.  Please refer to the Board website for updates.

Alert:   Extortion Scheme

The Division of Consumer Affairs (Division) is warning all licensed professionals about individuals impersonating New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs (DCA) investigators, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents, DEA investigators, New Jersey Drug Control Unit investigators, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigators, and other law enforcement personnel, as part of an extortion scheme.

The impersonators are contacting licensees by telephone, stating that they are the subject of an  investigation.  The callers are demanding money to clear up the matter, or threatening to revoke the individual’s license.   Please be advised that the Division of Consumer Affairs will not contact licensees by telephone to discuss investigations or demand money.

Anyone receiving a telephone call from a person purporting to be any of the abovementioned individuals seeking money, should refuse the demand.  We encourage you to report the call to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at You may also report the call to the Division at

The State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors regulates the practice, licensure and certification of engineers, land surveyors, engineers-in-training, land surveyors-in-training and companies offering professional engineering and land surveying services in the State of New Jersey in order to safeguard life, health and property, and promote the public welfare.  The Joint Committee of Architects and Engineers reviews complaints specific to the Building Design Services Act. The Home Inspector Advisory Committee, which is under the State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, licenses home inspectors and regulates the home inspection profession.
