Alert:   2020 Licesing Renewal Information 
  • Renewal applications will be mailed in mid-February, 2020. Renewal applications are not available on the website.  Renewal Fee is $80.00
  • New licenses will become effective April 1, 2020 and are active for two (2) years
  • May 1, 2020 - May 31,2020 – Renewal Grace Period
    $80.00 Renewal Fee + $50.00 Late Fee = Total of $130.00
  • June 1, 2020 - License Reinstatements Begin
    $80.00 Renewal Fee + $125.00 Reinstatement Fee = Total of $205.00 

Alert:   Printing Error Regarding Incorrect Renewal Dates or Dutdated Letterhead
Please be advised that the Division of Consumer Affairs is aware that due to a printing error some licensees and former licensees may have received letters with incorrect renewal dates or outdated letterhead during the first week of December 2019.  Should you have any questions regarding the letter you received, please contact the Division of Consumer Affairs at (973) 504-6200.

Alert:  Land Surveyor’s State Specific Exam
On May 10,, 2019 Governor Phil Murphy signed into law a requirement that Land Surveyor applicants take a New Jersey State Specific Exam as part of the application process. That law will become effective six months after it was signed or beginning November 11, 2019. Please refer to the Board website for updates.

Please be advised that all requests for approval of Continuing Professional Competency classes must be submitted on the most current Board forms. The most current form for Professional Engineers was revised on 4/2019 and Land Surveyor’s, was revised on 6/2018. Both can be found on the Board website under Applications, Form and Fees, and further under Continuing Professional Competency Approval Forms. Requests not submitted on the proper forms will be returned.

Alert:   Extortion Scheme

The Division of Consumer Affairs (Division) is warning all licensed professionals about individuals impersonating New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs (DCA) investigators, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents, DEA investigators, New Jersey Drug Control Unit investigators, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigators, and other law enforcement personnel, as part of an extortion scheme.

The impersonators are contacting licensees by telephone, stating that they are the subject of an  investigation.  The callers are demanding money to clear up the matter, or threatening to revoke the individual’s license.   Please be advised that the Division of Consumer Affairs will not contact licensees by telephone to discuss investigations or demand money.

Anyone receiving a telephone call from a person purporting to be any of the abovementioned individuals seeking money, should refuse the demand.  We encourage you to report the call to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at You may also report the call to the Division at

The State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors regulates the practice, licensure and certification of engineers, land surveyors, engineers-in-training, land surveyors-in-training and companies offering professional engineering and land surveying services in the State of New Jersey in order to safeguard life, health and property, and promote the public welfare.  The Joint Committee of Architects and Engineers reviews complaints specific to the Building Design Services Act. The Home Inspector Advisory Committee, which is under the State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, licenses home inspectors and regulates the home inspection profession.
